United States Air Force 2W1's
Work hard - Play hard

As it was yet another cold Sunday in February we decided to make our first visit to Luxemburg.  We knew General Patton was buried just outside of the city of Luxemburg so we made that our first stop.  Pictures and words do little to describe what we saw and experienced.  All photos on this page were taken 12 Feb 2006.
The entrance to the cemetery grounds.

A marble relief of the Battle of the Bulge.

No one camera angle to capture them all.

A small alter in the memorial.

Written on one wall in the memorial.

A closer shot of the Battle of the Bulge.

Only 1.5km away was a German WWII graveyard.  The sign posted said it was the first German war cemetery outside of Germany.
Christie at the entrance to the cemetery.

A lot fewer stones than the American cemetery and then you see that there are several names on each side of the headstones.

The cemetery was very well maintained and many headstones had fresh flowers and wreaths.

The center memorial listing many more names.

Before we headed back home we decided to stop and have lunch in the city of Luxemburg.  Luckily it was Sunday and all the shops were closed.  Christie's eyes were going from one shoe store to the next.  I will remember that Sundays are safe days to visit Luxemburg.

No idea where in Luxemburg we were.  Finding a parking spot was very difficult on Sunday so I can imagine the trouble we would have had on any other day.

A plaza area close to where we parked.

There were several coffee shops around the plaza area.  The coffee shops had chairs and tables stacked up so you could imagine in the warmer weather people sitting outside enjoying their coffees.

Old and new buildings intermixed in every direction.

Narrow streets and confusing traffic signals.
Without the GPS we would have been as lost as Easter Eggs.
