Manderscheid's Medieval Fest on Saturday, 26 August 2006.
Walking down to the valley floor between the two castles we can see knights jousting.

Knights showing their skill with their sword by cutting melons in half in a full gallop.

Next came the poll arm competition.
Everyone picked and cheered for their favorite knight.
 
A brave horse and rider over some burning hay.
The red knight shakes hands with his supports.
A view of one of the two castles from the market area.
A cool down walk for one of the knight's mounts.

There was a falconer presentation.

Some women making some authentic clothing.
A sword fighting demonstration.

Many people arrived in costume.

Singers kept the crowd entertained.
We waited for the bus to get back to our car as it started to rain.
On our drive back home we saw this creative use of hail bails.
