Camping at the Edelweiss wilderness area 2-4 June 2006.  Lots of rain and cold weather!
Walking back to the truck in the commissary parking lot.
Photographic proof that the RAM is larger than even the Alps.

Campsite after the first night of freezing rain.
June felt like January!

Seeking a warm breakfast we head to the Edelweiss lodge.

The reception area inside the main entrance to Edelweiss.

Picture of the Zugspitz.  Germany’s tallest mountain.

Difficult to see but pictured is a brave soul (idiot) parasailing off one of the “smaller” peaks.

We cross over a swift moving mountain stream on the start of our afternoon hike.

Climbing up the side of the mountain you can hear cow bells through the woods.
Christie finds a cow willing to have its ears scratched.
She is grinning because the cow just gave her hand a big lick.

The path opens up to a small field with some more cows.

We had to stop to pat these poor creatures too.
“Let me down, he looks fun to pester!”

Oscar not too thrilled with being held prisoner.

A shall pool to cool your feet in after hiking on the mountain trails.

A picturesque koi pond.  Oscar can still see those viscous cows.

You can imagine how fast the water comes down off the mountain with whole trees uprooted.

Oscar made climbing up on the rock look easy; I had a little more difficulty.

More domesticated animals that needed their ears scratched.

At turn around point of our hike we got to explore the "Ruine Werdenfels."

Almost ready to move in.  Just requires a little fixing up.

A view of Garmisch-Partenkirchen from the ruins.

There were several large hotels in town.

There were over a 100 smaller Gasthofs.
All were beautifully decorated.

Many buildings had exterior paintings and motifs.

One of the several churches we saw.

Trying to stay warm while waiting for dinner to cook.

The clouds parted for a minute as we walked down a back alley.

We had a visitor in the night that managed to make off with the dog food.
Oscar and Piglet got to share our hamburgers.

Driving back through Austria the views were beautiful.

All the fields were filled with wild flowers.

The top of the mountains were hidden by the clouds.

The fields had many small barns for storage.

One last look back at the mountains before we got on the Autobahn.
